Frequently asked questions

What is Avoce?

Avoce is a live-caption translation tool that runs in your browser: speak into your microphone or share tab audio, and it shows the original text and translated captions in real time. No installation, pay-as-you-go credits, no subscription.

Which languages are supported?

Speech input supports Chinese, English, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, Indonesian, Thai, Spanish, French, German, Arabic, Portuguese, Italian, and Hindi, with auto-detect. The same languages are available as translation targets. The interface comes in Traditional Chinese, English, and Japanese.

How do credits work? How long does one point last?

1 point = 1 minute of live translation = 4 minutes of transcript-only mode. Usage is metered per second while capturing; pausing stops the meter. Points never expire.

Is there a free trial?

Yes. After signing up and verifying your email, you automatically get a 30-minute trial — no credit card required.

Do I need to install an app?

No. Avoce runs directly in modern desktop and mobile browsers. You can also add it to your home screen as a PWA for an app-like experience.

Is my audio stored?

No. Audio is processed in real time and never stored on our servers. Transcripts and translations stay in your browser unless you export them.

What is the difference between live translation and transcript-only mode?

Live translation shows both the original text and its translation — ideal for foreign-language talks and cross-language communication. Transcript-only mode produces a same-language transcript with no translation, and your points last 4× longer — ideal for meeting notes and lectures.

Can I export transcripts?

Yes. Every session can be exported as plain text (.txt), Markdown (.md), or subtitles (.srt with timestamps).

Can it caption a video or online meeting playing on my computer?

Yes. Choose "tab audio" as the source and share the browser tab that is playing (remember to tick "share tab audio") to caption online meetings, live streams, or videos in real time.

Do points expire? Can I get a refund?

Points never expire. Refunds are handled per the Terms of Service; refunded purchases claw back the corresponding points proportionally.
